Hi! My name is Maddy and I'm an illustrator from Grand Rapids, Michigan. My hobbies include thrifting, making jewelry, creating TikToks of my cat, and watching reality shows with my roommate. Growing up, I was always inclined to art and wanted to become an artist.
I’m a strong believer in creating what makes you happy. Things that give you that tingly boost of serotonin as you’re working on it, encouraging you to keep making more like it. The artwork I make is inspired by the things I love, or anything I can dream up with my imagination late at night when I close my eyes before sleeping. My subject matter can include things like faces, cute animals, abstract caves, plants, to biomorphic/biological forms that resemble organs like hearts, arteries and intestines… but usually with a twist. Whether it be an unexpected color palette or contrasting elements, there needs to be something within the artwork that sparks interest.
I find that by using candy-like color palettes, it makes potentially disgusting subject matter more palatable. Blood and guts don’t always have to be gross. Art can showcase the beauty in things not normally considered “beautiful.” Even dead fish bones.
